our flat – the photo edition

January 15th, 2009 @ 20:48

It’s been over a month now since Alex and I moved and I haven’t posted any pictures yet. I hope I can redeem myself with these!

part of toy shelf

This is the left half of our toyshelf which is the top shelf in our bookshelf. Notice the slight gaming theme! Some are easy, like the paper Link. And if you’ve played WoW you’ll notice that the paper chest is from WoW. But so is the murloc in the back! While not official Blizzard it’s as close as you’ll get. And what most of you think is a walrus is actually a Tuskarr, part of the Kalu’ak! Also pictured is a tiny teapot, it’s actually an xmas ornament to hang in the tree, but I like it so much it has found a spot with our toys. Alex’s Weebl and Bob are also up there, I don’t see the point of having them but I guess some things are up to him to decide.

toy shelf

The right side of our toyshelf has a few of my favourite things ever. There’s the pig piggybank who wears braces/suspenders and a cap and is generally pretty bad ass and hungry. It also has a English gentleman (John Bull) who’s slightly thick (the way I like them!) and who also eats coins. The doll head is my favourite thing ever! I was toying with the idea of hanging it upside down in the window and applying red stickers shaped like spots of blood on the glass but Alex thought it  too morbid an idea. I disagreed with him of course, but she has gotten a permanent spot on the toy shelf, watching over the other toys and scaring off any potential burglars. Lastly there’s Homer who, if you press his button, will yell profanities.

paper link and his paper chest

Don’t you all just love Link? He will kick your ass if you don’t.

sofa

And lastly, here’s a part of our living room. The reddish orange sofa was free from a flea market – no one had wanted it – even when they tried to sell it at an auction. It is my favourite sofa ever and I would have paid a lot of money for it if I had to. The table is an old teak table by a Danish designer which I traded for my laptop. It used to be my mums and I had always said I wanted it. She told me it was REALLY expensive and I was willing to pay, but when she got ill and needed a small computer I decided to give her my laptop (there was no ulterior motive!) and she decided to give me the table as a thank you gift. My mum is the best! I’m not sure you can see it well in the picture but the fruit bowl is an old vinyl that my mother turned into an awesome bowl for me, again great mother. The dark purple wall is the only wall in the room painted that colour, the others are white. When I first moved in I hated the colour but as soon as the sofa came in place and we got the rest of the furniture up I changed my mind, it’s mindblowingly amazing!

I will not show you my kitchen yet, we’re waiting to have it repainted from the horrible ‘lilac mixed with grey’ and there are no curtains up yet, but trust me when I say it’s a great kitchen compared to what I’m used to. The oven heats up in 5  minutes!

  3. Roni – Alex made it! Well, folded it together at least. It’s some teomplate he downloaded, cut out carefully, folded and glued. That man has patience, I do not!

  8. Theresa – I actually DID sleep on the sofa tonight. Alex kept kneeing me in the back. I’m grateful though, the sofa is way comfier than the bed!

  12. I love your living room! That purple wall is gorgeous and it so ties with your sofa. What a great find! And Link is the best, I so heart Zelda. Actually my email is in reference to a Zelda inside joke. All of my friends got a temple nickname and mine is the shadow temple ;)

    Congrats on the beautiful place.
