E – Eating. I do it all the time. When I don’t eat or think about eating. I’m reading blogs, cooking, baking and planning meals. I think about this pretty much all the time. When I bring something to read at work it’s often a cookbook, which I will the read from cover to cover, marking out any recipes or passages that stand out. I don’t even care if there are no pictures, I have so much imagination I really don’t need it.
M – Mean. I can be really mean sometimes. Often it’s in a fight and I will turn really nasty and say mean and hurtful things that I know I will regret later. This is what I am least proud of about myself. If there was only one thing I could change about who I am, this would be it.
M – Magpie. Just like a magpie I collect glittery things and keep them in my home. I have hundreds of pieces of jewellery. Nothing expensive or fancy, just nice bling bling that I’ve bought cheaply and collected over the years. My friends all know I love jewellery and often buy me nice things if they visit another country. One of my friends brought me back maybe 6 pairs of earrings when she came back from Peru for the first time. I wear jewellery pretty much everyday, most often a pair of nice/funny/cute earrings but often a bracelet or a necklace too. My mother tells me I shouldn’t buy any more, but I collect bling bling.
I – Ideas. I have plenty of ideas and I can get very creative. Whether it’s about cooking or crafting or ideas about an awesome outing, I’m always full of ideas just waiting to get put into action.
E – Emancipation. I’m a feminist (and I totally had to get that in here but there are no Fs in my name damnit!). This affects my life every day. I never take my feminist ‘glasses’ off. I live in one of the best countries in the world as far as feminism goes, but this doesn’t mean it’s enough. Women still get paid less for doing the same job, women still get stuck at home taking care of children and running the house, women still get treated like a piece of meat and women are still considered property. We get raped, beaten, humiliated and patronized. Thankfully I live with a partner that shares the same values as I do and we are wonderfully equal.
For this meme I’m tagging people I really want to know more about: (There’s only three different letters in my name anyway!)

I love it- thanks for doing this meme! I think we will have much to talk about when/if we ever meet. (I promise I’m coming to Sweden… some time…)
I really know what you mean about feminism. It’s very hard being a radical feminist in a culture like the U.S. where the very word is considered somehow dirty, outdated, or unnecessary. Radio hosts here call us “feminazis” and for that reason many people here don’t even want to use the word, let alone think about what it means. Solidarity!
Comment by bazu - September 14th, 2007 at 12:40 amHey, great to know more about you! I love all your letters. I agree with you and Bazu both. Feminism is a dirty word these days, but I think we all need to bring it back into every day usage!
Comment by theresa - September 14th, 2007 at 12:52 amIt’s great to learn more about you. I am continually impressed by the maturity and passionate energy of all you young bloggers. I can’t tell you how much I despise “feminazi”!
I think about food all the time too and take cookbooks to read on my lunchbreak at work.
Comment by Diann - September 14th, 2007 at 4:29 amBazu – I was talking about feminism with my mum yesterday, she says she’s not a feminist, but that’s bullshit. To her the word just seems dirty and wrong, but she’s one of the first feminists I’ve ever met and she’s influenced me more than she knows.
To me it actually seems like the U.S. is one of the western countries that needs feminism the most. I’m no expert on the U.S. obviously but with the whole traditional christian patriarchal thing people in your country do, you sure seems to need it. Even England needs a big bunch of feminists damnit. Just the fact that so many women live as stay at home wives and mothers. That is one big trap for women. I’m not planning on having children and Alex agrees, but if we were ever to have any it would have to be HIS baby and responsibility, as much as mine. And there is no way anyone would ever be able to change how I feel about that. I’m ranting again! Someone stop me!
Theresa – I say I’m a feminist proudly but people often look at me with horror when I do. Just a few days ago I got the ‘Are you one of those FEMINISTS? Well I think that women are biologically meant to cook and take care of the home, do you hate men, it’s not like they can breastfeed, women are supposed to give birth a man can’t do it can he?’. It was both a bit scary and hilarious, being the mean person I am I started laughing at her, which wasn’t exactly nice, but I was so tired.
